Property Description
Designed by award winning Eco Design Architects, the Woolshed Cabins sit in the secluded Kanimbla valley beside the heritage shearing shed that gives the cabins their name.

The cabins have been thoughtfully designed to be gentle on the environment yet comfortable. Open and airy, lots of huge windows to take in an uninterrupted view of the Blue Mountains cliff-tops on three sides. Soak up the country atmosphere of the paddocks and watch horses and cattle grazing around you and take in the sight of the authentic Australian woolshed for which the cabins are named.

The design reflects the classic bush architecture and materials of the old shearing shed. The kitchen, for example, is absolutely Australian in character and design, with slab timber bench tops, corrugated iron splashbacks, and bush poles.

Visitors can choose to relax and take in the views of the beautiful rural property nestled below dramatic sandstone cliffs or use the cabins as a base to explore the valley and surrounds.

Guest comment: "Pretty amazing to stay in a place with pretty much your own private valley! Views even better than what we anticipated from looking at the website! A pretty special place to escape the rat race… and be reminded of the beauty and power of nature.”

Environmental Initiatives:
Energy
Gas has been chosen for heating (gas log fires), hot water and for cooking, as it has a lower environmental impact than other fuels.

Water
All drinking and washing water is spring-fed by a wonderful spring emanating from the rocks above the property. It has been laboratory analysed and is possibly the cleanest drinking water available. Naturally we ask that you do not waste this wonderful resource.

Waste
Dry composting toilets are another obvious part of the Woolshed Cabins environmental philosophy. The toilet is an environmentally friendly non-flush composting toilet, without the odours. Stylishly simple with echoes of Australia's yesteryear! Not only can they compost human waste, but they play a major role in the conservation of water, always a precious resource, but especially so on a farm.

Recycling bins are available for the recycling of glass, paper/cardboard & No.1 (P.E.T.) clear plastic containers. Bins for compostable materials (food scraps excepting meat, fish or citrus fruits) are available in your kitchen. These can be emptied into the compost area but NOT into the toilets. Other non-recyclable wastes can be placed into the garbage bin and then into the Otto bin placed outside your cabin.

Product Choice
All paints and oils used are organic (citrus based) and made in Australia. Indeed you may detect a pleasant smell from these products!

Design
Passive solar architect designed to be cool and breezy in summer, yet warm and sunny in winter.

Wherever possible, environmentally friendly materials and methods have been utilised. For example, the timber used for the weatherboards is radially cut Australian hardwoods (which maximises the quantity of wood that can be harvested from each log). Thus there is no wastage in off-cuts.

We ask that you respect our attempts at being environmentally sensitive and that you join us in this endeavour. Please conserve electricity and use water wisely.
