Property Description
The Canopy Treehouses is a unique Australian accommodation and wildlife experience. Set in 100 acres of ancient rainforest located on the Cairns Highlands that is strictly for the private use of our guests, this eco rainforest resort blends award winning luxury accommodation with a passionate regard for environmental and wildlife principles. We invite you to relax in the privacy and luxury of one of our six treehouses and enjoy the rainforest around you that is teeming with wildlife.

Purpose designed for comfort in the wilderness, Canopy Treehouses are perched high in the rainforest canopy on the banks of the flowing Ithaca River. The eco-friendly house designs blend in naturally with the surrounding rainforest, making it the ultimate eco-friendly rainforest resort in Australia.

Treehouses These luxury pole homes offer a secluded, private and peaceful environment surrounded by rainforest and are set on the banks of the Ithaca river. Each 2 bedroom Treehouse boasts furniture crafted from our own rainforest timbers, a gas barbeque and hammock on the spacious balcony ,a fabulous double corner spa, wood fireplace and full gourmet kitchen, fluffy bathrobes and slippers, hand-made soaps, washing machine and dryer, IDD telephone, internet outlet, DVD and TV. They comfortably sleep two to six people.

The Bower House This is our largest Tree House and is a winner of four Master Builders awards - 'The Best Use of Timber' and 'The Best Pole Home in its category'. As well as the standard features of our other Treehouses, the Bower House also has three luxurious bedrooms (king and single beds), two bathrooms, (one including a double spa), and is situated privately on a rainforest ridge offering spectacular valley views.

The Rainforest Unit This semi-detached brick unit is set in a forest clearing and offers spacious and stylish ground level accommodation. The Rainforest Unit has two bedrooms with queen and single beds (sleeps two to six), a luxury double spa, cosy wood burning pot-belly fireplace for the cooler winter evenings, fully equipped kitchen, own laundry and barbeque on the balcony, IDD telephone, Internet jack, TV and DVD. The Rainforest Unit is an ideal birdwatching area and also has wheelchair access (assisted).

Surrounding Rainforest
In a world of rapidly shrinking ecosystems our protected 100 acres of rare upland complex mesophyll vine forest is part of one of the largest untouched tracts of rainforest on the Highlands. Studies conducted by the C.S.I.R.O. have shown that our forest produces an average of 4 to 7 times the amount of fruit and food than other nearby rainforests. This rich source of food along with the general deforestation in the surrounding area accounts for the phenomenally high density of rare and unique wildlife found at the Canopy.

Resident Cassowaries, rare Lumholtz Tree Kangaroos and endangered Green Possums call our forest home whilst a thriving colony of shy platypus inhabit our river.

Red-legged Pademelon Wallabies abound and Coppery Brushtail Possums will visit your balcony every night, whilst Northern Bandicoots and other marsupials forage on the evening forest floor.

Wake to a serenade of birdsong every morning as Victoria's Riflebirds, beautiful King Parrots, Spotted Catbirds and an ever-changing parade of Honeyeaters and Finches greet you on the Treehouse balcony, or wander along our many walking tracks and immerse yourself in the grandeur of pristine, old growth, high country rainforest.

Environmental Initiatives:
Concern for our impact on the natural environment is not a recent fad for The Canopy. We use 100% renewable energy for the full operation off the business, natural soaps and linens, biodegradable detergents and self-contained waste disposal systems. Being a wildlife sanctuary, we pay special attention to the care and rehabilitation of our animals, and depending on the time of year our guests can join tree planting activities to extend our forest into surrounding cleared land. Guests can offset the carbon impact of travel to The Canopy.
