Tented Suites
With no telephones, TVs, CD players to distract you, your focus turns to the surrounding environment. The concept is simple – the focus is on key creature comforts, such as a wonderful comfy king size bed (or twin beds), 100% cotton linen, large soft bath towels, a high pressure shower and a flushing toilet of course!! A chandelier over the top, custom made Indian Rugs add a touch of elegance and romance.

If you should choose one of the luxury tents then you can lie in your private timber bathtub, surrounded by fragrant candles and take in the spectacular views. Each tent boasts total privacy and sits on a raised platform, one metre off the ground. Each tent is equipped with a BBQ, day bed, hammock, comfy chairs on your front and back verandas so you can take in the morning birdsong, or sit and be amused by our friendly wallabies or just lie there and take in the amazing views of the caldera’s natural beauty. The hosts provide an informal level of attention that is only possible when you are one of a small number of guests.

Meals
For breakfast, a complimentary delicious gourmet breakfast basket is delivered to your tent, filled with organic muesli, seasonal fruits, homemade yoghurt, juice and freshly baked bread and jams. For dinner why not enjoy one of the fabulous optional DIY BBQ packs filled with locally sourced organic beef, chicken or fish, potato salad and green salad. Or if you prefer ’pick your own salad’ from your very own veggie patch alongside your tent!! If you don’t wish to cook your own BBQ then for a small additional cost it can be cooked for you. It’s a great dinner experience which allows you to relax under the dark velvet night sky and be amazed by the sparkling light of millions of shining stars and the sounds of our wildlife.

Environmental Initiatives
The objective of Silk Pavilions is to provide a unique and genuine Australian bush experience that is ecologically sustainable.
- Biolytix worm farm for all our waste (sewerage/grey water and food scraps)
- Buildings have been designed to maximise the benefit of their North orientation catching the warmth of the sun in winter whilst proving shade in summer.
- Cross flow ventilation has been incorporated for better cooling in summer to catch the evening breeze.
- No air conditioning used
- A range of building materials were used to reduce the impact on the environment. Where possible, specially grown and harvested timbers were used rather than depleting our natural forests.
- No large trees have been removed
- Shower heads are low flow
- Toilets are dual flush
- Hot water heated on demand only, by gas
- Heat pump for main pavilion hot water
- Solar lights for public lighting
- Low energy use compact fluorescent bulbs
- Revegetation of areas affected by the development
- Limited fencing to maintain the wildlife corridor
- Use of recycled paper products where possible
