Property Description
Set on a secluded, elevated site, the one and two bedroom villas offer uninterrupted views of Wilpena Pound and the surrounding Flinders Ranges. Designed to blend in with the natural landscape the eco-villas are stylish, contemporary and welcoming. The eco-villas epitomise ecologically sustainable tourism, delivering an experience that fosters environmental and cultural awareness, while providing the level of quality and service demanded by the discerning traveller. Constructed from thermally efficient rendered straw bales, the villas feature a host of green design techniques including recycled timber, an innovative waste water treatment system, and a nine-kilowatt solar array, which has made the eco-villas almost energy-neutral, further boosting the environmental credentials of the property.
Rawnsley Park Station’s luxury Eco-Villas provide the perfect base for exploring South Australia’s Flinders Ranges. Other features include a retractable ceiling offering night-sky viewing from the comfort of your bed, wide verandahs with private deck, and fully equipped gourmet kitchens.
Accommodation includes luxury eco-villas, holiday units, a caravan park and some of the best campsites you'll find in the Flinders Ranges.
Features of the property include:
- dinner at The Woolshed overlooking the red sandstone of Wilpena Pound.
- picnic hampers and in room dining available
-4WD tours
- scenic flights
- cycling and bushwalking trails
- day tour of Flinders Ranges National Park with your experienced local guide. Explore the story of life in South Australia’s largest mountain range. Discover an unspoiled world of early life on earth, national parks, fossils and Aboriginal heritage in this ancient and beautiful area.
- breathtaking views and rare native wildlife like the yellow-footed rock wallaby and Australia’s largest marsupial – the Red Kangaroo.
Environmentally Friendly Initiatives:
Committed to environmentally responsible and sustainable tourism, Tony and Julieanne recently entered into a Heritage Agreement with the South Australian Department of Environment and Heritage in order to protect the diverse vegetation of Rawnsley Bluff. Their substantial financial investment into the new Rawnsley Park eco-villas is further evidence of this commitment.
The eco-villas: Designed to complement the natural surroundings, the villas have the latest environmental design features.Rendered straw bale walls, polished timber floors over suspended concrete slabs, overhanging eaves/wide verandahs to provide shaded walls. Windows and doors have been located to allow for cooling breezes to pass through the entire building. Raked ceilings and natural exhaust venting at the apex of the ceiling space provide natural cooling efficiency. The villas have also been designed to take advantage of the large diurnal temperature range that is experienced in the Flinders Ranges. Concrete slab floor and rendered straw bale walls provide thermal mass that minimises temperature variation within the villas.
